My Sherlock Timeline

About a week ago, BBC posted this Sherlock Season 4 trailer...

... and I'm pretty sure every Sherlock fan went "ASKjdnfakjsbfkbnasfnioASNOFOSAFISADKLmnvnadnfksadlfnasf OMFG LKASJFJKNSKJFNKJSNFKJ Sherlock!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! LKANDFKJLNAPW)ehfujadjfasfj MORIARTY?!?!?!??!?!??!?!?!?! AKsjiudfhnadfiuaskfdsfahjsbffiooef!!!"

The catch is... it won't be shown until January 2017! And do you know when the last episode of Sherlock was? That cliffhanger episode? January 2014!!! By the time Season 4 is shown, Sherlock fans would have waited for three solid years. Saken okay lang. Sanay naman akong maghintay. #KelanganMayHugot

But I had to look back. Season 1 was shown in July 2010.  I just graduated from college back then and was taking advantage of the "Hey I need vacation before I start working" card. That time, I didn't even know that I didn't know how the real world goes. Ha. And there were times when I want to go back that state.

2012 was a year of many beginnings for me. When Season 2 was shown in January, I was about to start in my (already) second job and move back to Quezon City (the first job was in Pasay). I am very grateful for the things that I've learned from my first job (that ranges from operating a fax machine to speaking publicly) but the most apt would probably be: sometimes, people leave you (and you're going to be okay)... but sometimes, you're the one who leaves (and that's okay).

The end of Season 2 was epic, and we waited two years for that! January 2014. Tagal na nun! It was my fourth semester in grad school and I was a full-time student. I didn't have a job... but... wait for it... I had a lovelife. (Emphasis had. Tapos teka, nadinig niyo yun? Sound of my heart shattering. Chos!) I wasn't able to experience much in college, and grad school gave me a second chance to do that. I survived college mostly alone, but grad school proved that there are people who are more than willing to help you make your journey easier- sometimes you just have to ask (or not).

See how many crucial life events have happened to me all through-out those three Sherlock seasons?! Now I wonder, what would my January 2017 look like? I'm not really sure(lock). Hihi.

Review: The Coffee Project

I am not the kind of person who needs a coffee fix in the morning. I have never craved for coffee. I can survive a day without caffeine in my system. And yet, I often hang-out in coffee shops. My friends and I had reminisced for and created new memories in coffee shops. I finished several group projects in coffee shops. I wrote two papers about poverty while chugging on overpriced coffee drinks (ironic, I know).

Since I am no expert in identifying which has better coffee drinks, my consideration in choosing a coffee shop really largely depends on the ambiance of place. If you are like me, then I think you would like The Coffee Project.

The exterior of The Coffee Project in Quezon City is just right. You will probably have the same reaction as I had: Eto na 'yun? But wait for it, just one step inside and that reaction will be immediately be replaced with just one word: Wow! I was too afraid to take pictures because I was so sure that my crappy cellphone camera won't do it any justice. But honestly, I believe that the word Instagram-mable was coined perfectly for places like The Coffee Project.

The tables weren't too close with each other, giving us enough space to mind our own business and converse in decent loudness. I even saw some students reading their textbooks in the shop. It helps that there's free Wi-Fi and that laptops can be charged in the electric sockets located around the shop. The music loudness, the lighting, and the temperature inside are just right.

There are lots of quotable quotes (and funny puns) about coffee all-around the place.

Do not expect too much from the food and drinks though. I had the Penne Carbonara and it wasn’t that great. I have yet to try the Sardine Pasta which from what I heard tastes very good. I ordered Ice-Blended Green Matcha during my first visit and it wasn’t available so I ended up getting Sea Caramel Frappe.  The presentation was satisfactory, but I was expecting it to be a little more caramel-y.

During my second visit, I again ordered Ice-Blended Green Matcha but it was still unavailable (like really, why). I however enjoyed the Iced Vietnamese drink. The Salted Caramel Cheesecake is the bomb! Quite pricey, but so worth the money!

The Coffee Project in Vista Place QC is just right across the ABS-CBN Audience Entrance. It was located at the Ground Floor, Wil Tower, Eugenio Lopez Drive (very near Tomas Morato). If you’re commuting, you may either take a short walk or ride a tricycle from the MRT Quezon Avenue station. The shop opens at 7 in the morning and closes at 11PM. I think they extend the hours during weekends to 1AM. And oh, by the way, the other branches are in Starmall Alabang, AllHome Imus, Vista Mall Sta. Rosa, Vista Mall Pampanga, and Vista Mall Balanga.

Travel alone! I was able to tour around Davao for a day... alone.

2. Did you keep your New Years’ resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
I did not make a list last year. I probably won't make a list for this year too. But... this really sounds like a good idea:

3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
Yes! My cousin-in-law and a friend from grad school.

4. Did anyone close to you die?
Nope.

5. What countries did you visit?
None. :(

8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
Moving on from 1 of those two heartbreaks. Haha!

My sister and I bought a TV and my downloaded 1080p movies were finally put into good use.

12. Whose behavior merited celebration?
All those people who did nice things to other people even if no one's around.

23. How many one-night stands?
None.

24. What was your favorite TV program(s)?

26. What was the best book you read?
I was surprised when I realized that I haven't finished any book this year. I started reading The First Fifteen Lives of Harry August, The Girl on the Train, and Dark Places but I wasn't able to finish all of them.

27. What was your greatest musical discovery?
Justin Bieber's Purpose album. The Biebs may be one of the biggest a**holes to ever exist, but his song are actually great.

I wanted to finish my pre-print paper to be able to finally get my Master's degree. I did- with the help of a lot of people, particularly my adviser and my boss that time.

Also, I've always dreamed of a fast internet connection. We currently enjoy a decent internet connection.

29. What did you want and not get?
On the first half of the year, I badly wanted to get back together with someone. That someone doesn't love me anymore and didn't want the same... so I remembered wanting to have another relationship immediately. I didn't get that either.

So I guess... none, really.

34. What kept you sane?
Webcomics and Tumblr posts. Weird...

Einstein: A Must-See Documentary

I have no interest in Physics, but I am aware of his vast contribution to the field and how it had changed our view of the universe. Einstein. The image of a genius. It has always made me wonder how the mind of people like him works. This documentary might not give all the answers about how his worked, but for me, it has given me a lot of insights and whoah moments. Actually regretting not taking many Psych cognate courses in college! Haha.

Overplayed is just a state of mind...

For a few weeks now, I have been playing ONLY One Direction's Little Things all day long. What is wrong with me? Hahaha. Yet I realized that this is not the first time this has happened. Uhmmm, *cough* You're Still the One (Lee DeWzye's version) *cough* and ofcourse, *cough* the mash-up of I Feel Pretty and Unpretty of Lea Michel and Dianna Agron *cough*. When you find a song really beautiful and captivating... I think "overplayed" is just a state of mind.

"I don't even have a PLA" -Phoebe Buffay

May bago silang tagline...

Magtatapos ng pag-aaral with honors (haha!). Hehehe.

Ayos ano? ;P

Soulmates

I've just finished reading Perks of Being a Wallflower last week... which I consider as a very big achievement. I started reading the book way back in 2010 but I put the book down only after the first few pages. I know Charlie (protagonist) would understand. Come on, he once left Ian (from the book The Fountainhead) for a while because he was starting to get mad at him. Except that, I didn't get mad at Charlie. It's more like I was in a boring mood when I read the book, i.e. when everything seemed boring even if they weren't.

Or so I thought. Because I've tried picking it up for a few times, during my happy times, and got the same results: I've always stopped after the first few pages, chapters, or one time even after midway. Don't get me wrong, it is a good book. After finishing the book, I can say that it has a good narrative, well-developed characters, unique style, and ofcourse, a very thought-provoking plot. Just not my cup of tea, though.

This "cup of tea" issue made me think.  We all have our own set of preferences. Books. Movies. Television Show. Music. Sports. And I realized, maybe this same concept also applies to the people we meet and interact with. There are many psychological and sociological concepts that can be attributed  to forming relationships and how really it is different liking living things from non-living things haha.

But for the sake of this short blog post, let's make it this simple: Just like how we can't like every book, every movie, every TV show, every song, or every sport... not everyone we meet has this certain "click", or as my friend calls it, "spark". Not everyone we meet leaves us with this unexplainable connection. Some people come and go, and we don't care. Yet there are some people that we want to put in a safe lock and keep forever. These people may not even matter to other people, yet to us, our world won't be just as bright without them.

Be thankful if you found yours. :)

I've Met an Angel!

I've started this blog a few weeks ago and since then, I've been thinking of a topic to write about in my first post. I could've written a simple, "I'm blogging again, bitches! Muahahahaha." Then I could've proceeded with a very long narrative about my short-lived experience as a "feeling" blogger and how I suddenly just stopped blogging and how I attempted to blog again for a bunch of times but failed 90% of the time and how this blog has a large probability of being included in that statistics. Except that it'd bore you big time.

I really want to start off with a feel-good entry. You know, just to set the mood for the future posts. I really want this blog to be a happy blog. I want this to be one of the places you visit when you're feeling down and you want to be inspired and be happy and get a cyberhug from me and then your mood would instantly be better. Hehehe, wishful thinking (see blog description).

But since the past few days has been, well, not so kind towards me, I've had nothing to share. If I was forced to write those days, this would be filled with rants about how life is so unfair and cruel. It was that bad. Although I have a few moments to be thankful for, the real FEEL-GOOD moment happened last night and I really just felt the need to share this.

I got locked-out of our building last night.

I had dinner with my friends in a far, faraway land and got back late at our neighborhood. I went to our gates and being a fan of signage, I first checked if there were new announcements and what I read next made my eyes widen. There was a notice. The building's management has finally decided to change the locks (it has been semi-broken since God knows when). I wasn't informed. Why wasn't I informed? When was that notice posted?!

Still not believing my luck, I tried to open the lock of the gate with the old key... and *insert drum rolls here* it didn't open! When I inspected it, it was indeed a new lock... all new and shiny. I panicked.

The first logical action should have been to call one of my housemates to come and get me (the gate can be opened from the inside). But my relationship with them was purely "Hi-Hello" and nods and smiles so I didn't have any of their numbers stored in my phone. Second option: Go to my landlady's house which was some blocks away. But it's already really late and what if she's not informed about the new lock too?! Third option: Spend the night at McDonald's. Who wants to stay at McDonald's alone?!

There's a fourth option: Wait and pray to the deity that one of the tenants of the other units also had a good time with his/her friends and had to get back home as late as me. :P

I looked around. No one's coming. If only few people roam around our area during the day... imagine the number of people at night. Almost none. Therefore, goodbye option 4. I was starting to lose my hope. I went for a modification of option 2-- I planned to call my landlady.

I was about to dial her number when I saw him approaching. He was looking back at me. For a moment, I thought he was just passing by our street... but *insert drum rolls here*... he stopped infront of our gate and I saw him produced a key from his pockets. I couldn't even remember who between us asked, "Dito ka?" If it was me, that was stupid of me to ask. If it was him, ermmm, did he think I was a thief or something? Haha. But surely, it was him who said, "Pinalitan na kasi 'yung lock, kunin mo nalang bukas sa Unit 1132 'yung susi."

Never have I imagined that the sound of the lock unlocking and the sound of the gate opening would make me smile. I entered and surely, the tone of my "Kuyaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa, thank youuuuuuuuuuuuuuu!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" reflected how happy I was.

I don't know about you, but I believe in angels. In my belief though, they don't always have their wings with them, or their halo. Many times, angels are human beings whom in their simple actions helped us big time, who made our lives better, and unknowingly to them, saved us. Parang si kuya. :)

How about you? Have you ever met an angel?

WANTED: EXPLANATIONS OF THE TWISTS

I've finished reading Wanted last night. It's the last in the series of eight books of Sara Shepard's Pretty Little Liars. I think it only took me less than two weeks to finish the series, because the books can actually be categorized as easy-reads. It was kinda chiclit-ish, with mystery as its central theme. I won't go around telling the plot again, because I've already said it when I reviewed the fourth book Unbelievable that can be found here.

So okay, since the first four books of the series tells about A, and the fourth book reveals who A was, the other half of the Pretty Little Liars series focus on solving the mystery on who killed Ali. Plus, a new A appeared. So, as usual, it was a page-turner.

There were many unexpected twists too. And when I say many, I really mean it. Haha. Halfway reading the series, I've read a review that unfortunately contains a spoiler. I felt like I'm going to die, because it won't be exciting anymore. But really, that twist was only one of the many. After reading all, I was mindfucked, because the initial twist was again twisted. Twist within twist. How cool is that?

The twists were really great. I didn't expect it. Even the littlest idea of some twist didn't occur to my mind. And that is again my problem with the series.

The twists were surprising, such that it seems impossible. Not that it can't happen in real life, but in a way that when you read the series, the facts relating to the twists were loosely given. Some facts just don't go along with others. Plus, there were a huge blackhole. I mean, I'm looking for more explanations. How did A do all that? Things like that.

Like what I've said in my previous entry, I still recommend you to read the series because the characters are interesting. Plus, it is really a huge page-turner because of the twists. :)

Unbelievable is... unbelievable

Because I've been a bum for four months already, I'm running out of things to do. Thanks to my Tumblr dashboard, I happen to be informed about a TV show that had just finished showing in US called Pretty Little Liars. I got interested, the title is catchy, right? My internet connection at home is so slow, such that to finish downloading 10 episodes of Pretty Little Liars (each ep is almost 350MB) takes years. HAHAHA, just kidding. So... I decided to read the books first.

At first, I thought I wasn't going to finish reading even the first book, I just finished re-reading the Harry Potter series that time and I'm still in a harrypotter-is-the-best-bookseries-intheworld mood. But Pretty Little Liars got me. I was hooked by the book. It's a mystery novel, and I love solving mysteries.

The author, Sara Shepard, trully made it to the point that the readers will buy the next book, because the mystery wasn't resolved in the first book. I quickly read the second book Flawless, and the third book Perfect, each page increasing urge to get the next book so I'll know the ending. Interesting as it was, I paused after the third book and watched the TV episodes. The TV episodes weren't a copy of what's in the book, but I enjoyed watching the series because it's equally mysterious.

The plot is simple, there are five friends, one dies. Then the remaining four receives threatening messages after four years. These messages contain their deepest secrets. The sender is only known as A. And yeah, the book slightly revolves on them questioning who A was and resolving the issues that A brought.

The first three books make me suspect certain people as A. I was dying to know who A was. But I didn't expected that A will be revealed on the fourth book Unbelievable, which I finished reading last night.

I really thought that A will be revealed on the last book, or if not, on later parts of the series. But nevertheless, I was happy that I knew at last who A was. The feeling lasts for only a second because my immediate questions were: What? That's A? Why?

I know, I suspect that character as A, but I really can't believe that she's A. It's as if the author hasn't decided who A was until writing the fourth book. It's as if, the author picked from the characters, see who matched and voila: You're A!

I mean, it was somehow obvious, the facts match, but it wasn't explained how A did all those things. I guessed how A knew the secrets. The reason was acceptable, but I think her character's not introduced much as that.

Okay, the character is capable of being A, the character is really there when things happen, but there were no hints!

I've read other novels with surprise endings or characters, but when the secret was revealed, I'll realize something that makes me think that: Wow, yeah. That's why he acted this and that or something!!! You know, hints that don't tell you what the secret it, but hints that are there somewhere. Hints that might say: Hey, I was there. But you ignored me.

Anyway, I'll still read the remaining books of the series because there are still unknown mysteries. Plus, the characters are really interesting. Each is unique from others.

I Think I'm Not Smarter Than a Fifth-Grader

My cousin asked me what the 7 continents of Earth were. I said it was an easy homework and confidently recited these names: Asia, Europe, Africa, N. America, S. America, Antarctica & Arctica.

And he was like... "ARCTICA?! You sure? Isn't it just Arctic?"

I said, "Duh! I've read a trivia once that says all the continents have the same first and last letters... minus the South & North of America. So it has to be Arctica."

We checked it on the net and I was really dumbfounded.

There was no Arctica! It wasn't also Artic!

HOW IN GOD'S NAME I'VE FORGOTTEN ABOUT AUSTRALIA?! HAHAHAHA.

Primetime Politics

Although I am a student of the social sciences, people around me might have notice that I am not talking much about the coming 2010 elections. Why? First, I honestly think that much have been said about it, thereby losing my enthusiasm to talk about it. Second, I am lazy to talk about it because I feel like I have too much to say about it.

But here I am now. In a few minutes, you're about to read what my views about the coming elections are. Not views actually, but rants. Haha, just kidding. Okay, seriously now, not about my holistic view of it, but about the advertisements and campaigning strategies of the candidates for national positions. Let's start with the man with the billion-peso worth of ads.

I am sick of Manny Villar's "Nakaligo ka na ba sa dagat ng basura..." song. Though I admit that I am singing it sometimes, it is only because people around me are singing it also. LSS much. Even my little cousins know how to sing it. I think it is the most notable ad of Manny Villar. The message is catchy, the melodies are easy to sing with, and ofcourse the lyrics itself is being flash when the ad is being shown. Eventhough his "Akala Mo" ad is somehow catchy also, nothing beats the "Basura" ad. So what? Sure what he is trying to say is "you need to be one to know one". But in reality, it is not applicable all the time. And hello, how much is his net worth again?

So let's then talk about Manny Villar's runningmate, Loren Legarda. I don't actually remember her ads, so I am not gonna talk about it. Instead, I'm gonna talk about her recent guesting on Wowowee. (She also visited Bahay ni Kuya/Pinoy Big Brother Double Up, though I didn't catch it.) Anyway, Loren celebrated her birthday on Wowowee by giving money and computer to some audiences and their school. What pissed me off was one of the statement she mentioned at the start of the show. After greeting some people, the hosts Mariel Rodriguez and Valerie Concepcion asked her to also greet the TFC subscriber. Then Loren said something like, "Oh, worldwide pala tayo?" And I was like, "Duh, you don't know?"

I am still waiting of the campaigning strategies of Edu Manzano, a rival of Loren Legarda on the Vice-Presidential seat. After the announcement last year that he will be the runningmate of Gibo Teodoro, not much is heard about him. Except the alleged break-up between him and his girlfriend, Pinky Webb. Gibo Teodoro's latest ad is the one with the airplane. If the sub-ideas of that ad will be studied, it will not pass my standard. Well, if the next President is the pilot, then the citizens are the passengers, contributing nothing to the take-off of the plane. Which is not appealing to me, because I believe every citizen has to do his/her part for the country to become successful.

Though I haven't seen any solo TV ad of Bayani Fernando, Dick Gordon made my cousin LSS to Silent Night.

Noynoy Aquino for me has not yet found the perfect ad for him that will make people go gaga over. His latest has his nephew Baby James Yam on the last scene saying "Noynoy". His runningmate Mar Roxas, on the other hand, has not been innovative on his ads. His pre-Noynoy-affairs ads feature the famous "padyak" ads. His latest ads today is back on his Mr.Palengke kinda thing.

Finally, Erap Estrada-Jejomar Binay tandem has not yet appeared together on the ads also. Well, I am looking forward on how their tandem will carry on the campaigning. It's because I just don't guess where their personalities/visions intersect.

At the end of the day, the ads are not the only deciding factor of a person to vote for a certain candidate. However, the ads do affect how people view the candidates.

PGMA's (Last?) SONA

HAHAHA.
HAHAHA.) Or masinop lang talaga akong bata. Kunwari pa-OC. Ganun. HAHAHA!
Itanong mo kung anong grade ko dun. 2.75. Oo, 2.75!! Hehe.
Ambabaw ko! Walang kwenta. Tsk tsk. Sinulat ko ‘to?! Ganun pala ako dati? Hmmm.
Lessons Learned: Kailangang tumingin tayo beyond the flashed images. D2 na me.” (Sorry, hindi talaga puwedeng walang corny part. HAHA!)

Ayos. Medyo nagsasawa na kasi ako sa iyo. Don't get me wrong.

Sige na, next time ulit. AS IN WALA PA TALAGA! Tapos exam na namin sa Thursday. Kelangan ko pa magbasa sa 152. At sa 183. Tapos STS pa. HAYYY. Eto yata pinakamabigat kong sem. Buti ka pa, namamahinga na diyan.

Nagmamahal,

Rea

Bluer than Blue

I helped him, and I think we did well naman sa red, black, yellow, orange, brown, white, violet, etc. Pero pagdating sa color blue... Hmmm.

Required eh. Tapos dapat may stick pa.

So let's be prepared schoolmates. Ingat-ingat.

BLUE. Correct me if I'm wrong, hindi kasi ako sure sa details. Hehe.

BLUE.

Yihee.

HAHAHA! See, blue is everywhere pala. We do not need Blue to find Clues. HAHAHA!

Much has been said.

At eto pa:

Lesson from the circulating scandal today: Kapag nasa "KAT-RI-NA", tingnan muna kung may "HAYDEN" camera.

At narito ang limang stages according to anthonydowns.com.

1. The pre-problem stage.

2. Alarmed discovery and euphoric enthusiasm.

3. Realizing the cost of significant progress.

4. Gradual decline of intense public interest.

5. The post-problem stage.

Come to think of it, ano kayang issue ang magpapatalbog sa Hayden Kho-Katrina Halili scandal? ;)

The FiveTeen People You'll Meet in Batis (Kung andun ka nung May 1)

I quote Kadate, BUHAY PA NGA ANG TRIBU! =)

Kahit hindi na official, we still vote for officers, or Executive Commitee. (Na tinawag ding Maharlika nang Execomm Batch 2008.) And then, they HAVE TO oragnize three major assemblies-- one for summer, isa sa sem break, at isa kapag Christmas break.

At siyempre, nakasama ako! Wooh. Mabuhay! Sobrang nag-enjoy ako. At siyempre, sila ang dahilan kung bakit:

Mapa-Friendster, o mapa-text man.

Hahaha. Kwela din to.

Kaya wag nalang ba. Hehe. Okay si Erik, as in sobrang okay. Tw thumbs-up for Erik.

10. Ruben- si Krubz. Ang pinakamaaga nung Friday! Hahaha. Ang kasabay kong nag-halo-halo sa Emmy's. Ang batang masipag mag-GM. Oo man! Hahaha.

Hahaha. I miss Ianne. =)

Pero kung hindi mo alam or hindi mo maalala, you can see it here. No Official Boyfriend Since Birth). Alam mo kung ano na? NBSE. No Boyfriend Since Ex. Panalo! Hahaha.

Awww.

So obviously, ako 'yung pang fifteen. Yuhoo. May next time pa naman eh. Sana. =)

Mr. Haggard

haggard (adj)-- Showing the wearing effects of overwork or care or suffering [cited from WordWeb]

Meet Mr. Haggard. =)
